A sight for sore eyes…
Siobhan Ferguson has published her striking photographs in book format after becoming well known on Instagram. Perfect for those with a preference for print. This book, Pretty City New York, was given to me as a gift this past holiday. It has been a gift to turn from one lovely page to the next and also to learn about her approach to dedicate time and attention to “Discovering New York’s Beautiful Places.” For the sake of her pictures, Ferguson makes note of waiting until people leave the frame of her camera. The unoccupied photos of restaurants and shops have a similar feeling to my neighboring establishments waiting to return to a more lively capacity after the pandemic. While vacant, the photos show places demonstrating the hard and careful work to make places look attractive and welcoming. Positivity, attention to what is pretty, and thinking about how places can be seen in their best light is inspiring way to start the New Year.
