Quarantine Pets

Who got a quarantine pet? Based on the data, seems like everybody did! If you didn’t get a pet, I bet you know of someone who did.

The demand for pets seemed to increase significantly in 2020. So much so, that according to this article, adoptions from shelters and rescues actually went down 17%, because shelters ran out of animals. Also, Americans were spending so much more time at home that 23% fewer owners gave up their pets to a shelter or rescue, which is great! The number of strays that shelters took in also went down by 27% so people must have been scooping up the strays and taking them home. The supply simply did not match the demand over the past year. I think this is really awesome news, the more furry friends in homes the better!
