Digital Urban Planning

The City of Amsterdam seems to be leading the charge with digital innovation in planning, according to the article Amsterdam shows where ‘ digital urban planning’ is headed published by Bloomberg Cities. Having a Digital Urban Planner on staff in City Hall means that they do things a little bit differently. The Digital Urban Planner, Bruno Ávila Eça de Matos, frequently works with 3D Modeling and GIS programs to interact with residents. One idea that Matos and a team is exploring is creating a digital twin of neighborhoods to help residents contextualize change before it happens. Check out the article for more information!

Amsterdam looks to be on the cutting edge of innovation, as they also just adopted Amsterdam's Omgevingsvisie 2050 (2050 Comprehensive Plan, basically). The Plan contains a highly rigorous environmental plan that will take innovation to achieve.
