Spooky Story Time: American Planning Association (APA) Ethics Cases of the Year

Searching for some spooky stories this Halloween? Look no further! This year’s American Planning Association’s (APA) Ethics Cases are sure to send shivers down your spine! These four Cases of the Year are ethical scenarios modeled on real-life planning issues and are based on the various inquiries or complaints filed with the APA Ethics Officer. Names and locations have been changed to protect privacy.

Overall, the APA saw dozens of ethics cases last year. Issues ranged from conflict of interest (15 cases) to discrimination (10 cases) to integrity of practice (48 cases). 10 total cases resulted in some form of disciplinary action.

While the APA Ethics Cases might not inspire the same level of horror as Dracula or Frankenstein, they still make for spooky reading material.

Wishing you a Happy Halloween!
